"What?" you may say - what is the use of cutting the roof off the Leitra? One of the biggest reasons for constructing the Leitra was its ability to keep the rider comfortable in every weather, especially in the rain. Well - take a look at cars. There is quite some market for convertibles there as well. People like to get rid of their roof in good weather to enjoy the feeling of "being there" - to feel the wind in their faces. Now let's do the same with a Leitra! Another very good reason is the ability to take the roof away when you drive together with other bikes and you want to talk to each other.

The following pictures have been provided by Friedhelm Schwegler, who is proud owner of a convertible Leitra.

This is how the Leitra looks like in "normal" mode. You can already see that the roof looks somewhat different to the standard version.
Isn't it inviting? Friedhelm says he can take the roof off in just a few seconds. There is a quicklock mechanism (refer to next image) and two screws which have to be opened. That's it!
A closer look at the quicklock mechanism. It consists of a rubber band which hooks onto the main fairing. Couldn't be much easier, eh?
